Our History

In 1959, Charles J. Miller, Jr. (Buck Miller) established his excavation and drainage business. Since then, his construction business has come a long way and for almost 50 years, CJ Miller, LLC has continued as a family business and become a full service site construction company.

In 2004, Charles J. Miller, Inc. became CJ Miller, LLC when Buck turned the operation of the company over to his children: C. J. Miller, III, Vice President, William Miller, Vice President and Lisa Utz, Secretary/Treasurer.

The company is based near Manchester in Carroll County, Maryland and has hot mix asphalt manufacturing facilities in Finksburg, Woodsboro and Westminster.

Their commitment to excellence, integrity and performance remains firm, ensuring loyal clientele and encouraging new customers.

The progressive leadership of the company has been repeatedly demonstrated through equipment innovation and the continuous development of new processes. All management personnel are hands on and lead by example. The result has been long standing relationships with valued customers, employees and suppliers.

The company is actively involved in local and national trade associations.
