Soil Modification

The geologic make-up of Maryland includes many locations with soils that are not suitable to support roads or structures. CJ Miller created a soil modification division within its construction company to service the needs of customers who are developing sites with unsuitable soils.

Soil modification is the process of altering the structure and texture of the natural soil to make the soil suitable as fill material. This is achieved by adding Portland Cement to the soil. The percent of cement needed and the depth of the sub-grade to be modified is determined by the Soils Engineer.
